Vitals Vitamin K2 90 mcg
MK-7, the superior form of vitamin K2
This product contains 90 μg of vitamin K2 in the form of menaquinone-7 (MK-7). Vitamin K2, also known as menaquinone (abbreviated MK), comes in various forms, the most well-known of which are MK-4, MK-7, MK-8, and MK-9. The number after "MK" refers to the length of the side chain in the molecule. According to current scientific research, menaquinone-7 (MK-7) is the most effective form of vitamin K2. MK-7 is highly absorbed and remains active in the body for a very long time, thanks to its long half-life. Therefore, relatively low doses of MK-7 are sufficient for optimal efficacy.
K2VITAL™ DELTA from Balchem
Vitamin K2 is known to be highly unstable. When combined with minerals or certain excipients, the vitamin K2 content in a product can rapidly decrease. This is, of course, highly undesirable, as you want to be able to store a supplement for its entire shelf life. The Norwegian manufacturer Balchem has developed a vitamin K2 raw material that is highly protected against external influences. Through a patented micro-encapsulation process, the K2 is completely encapsulated, guaranteeing stability even in products containing aggressive mineral compounds. Vitals selected K2VITAL™ DELTA as the best vitamin K2 raw material after extensive stability testing with various K2 raw materials in various formulations.
Trans-form versus cis-form
MK-7 occurs in two forms (isomers): the natural trans-form and the synthetic cis-form. The body can only process the natural trans-form, just as MK-7 is also found in food. Scientists therefore consider the trans-form to be the only biologically active form of MK-7. The cis-form, on the other hand, does not occur naturally and is ineffective, potentially even placing unnecessary stress on the body. This Vitals product contains over 99.7% of the natural trans-form.
Sources of vitamin K2
MK-7 is produced by certain bacteria during fermentation and occurs naturally primarily in natto, a Japanese dish made from fermented soy. Natto has a strong, characteristic flavor and is therefore not very popular in Western cuisine. Other menaquinones, such as MK-8 and MK-9, are found in smaller quantities, particularly in cottage cheese and hard cheeses.
- helps with normal blood clotting
- contributes to the absorption of calcium in the bones and helps keep them strong
Compound
Ingredients
Rice flour (Oryza sativa), vegetable capsule (pullulan, from fermented cassava starch), vitamin K2.
Usage
Take 1-2 capsules per day with a (fat-containing) meal and plenty of water or as advised.
NB:
The vitamin K in this product makes it unsuitable for use with coumarin derivatives (anticoagulants such as acenocoumarol and phenprocoumon). These medications are also called vitamin K antagonists, and their effectiveness is reduced by vitamin K intake from food and supplements.
Storage instructions
Store in a dry, closed container at room temperature
