Vitals Every Day Mom 60 Tablets
Vitals Every Day Mom 60 Tablets
Available in stock
Elke Dag Mama is a carefully designed multi-product formula for women who are planning to become pregnant, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding. This is, of course, a special and important time in which the health of the (expectant) mother, and of course the baby, must be optimally supported.
The product is formulated based on the latest scientific insights, tailored to current data regarding nutritional status in the Netherlands and Belgium and the optimal intake amounts for each nutrient. Elke Dag Mama contains the most important nutrients in the correct ratios and dosages based on the latest insights. Only easily absorbable compounds have been selected.
Vitamin A should not be missing in a pregnancy multivitamin
Many pregnant women are warned about the dangers of too much vitamin A. However, vitamin A needs are higher during pregnancy and especially during breastfeeding. Therefore, it's important not to be too cautious with vitamin A intake. Elke Dag Mama therefore contains 3 mg of natural beta-carotene (provitamin A) as well as 150 μg of vitamin A in the form of retinol. This is a low and very safe dose of vitamin A. The body will not convert more of the beta-carotene present into vitamin A than it needs, and this will therefore not lead to excessively high vitamin A levels.
Special form of folic acid
It's well known that folic acid is very important before and during pregnancy. Elke Dag Mama contains 400 mcg of a superior, biologically active form of folic acid (folate) bound to glucosamine salt (Quatrefolic®).
Folic acid (pteroylmonoglutamic acid), often used in dietary supplements for stability, is a synthetic form that doesn't occur naturally. This important B vitamin is found in food as folate. Folic acid from supplements must be converted by the body into tetrahydrofolate and then into 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF).
Generous dose of vitamin B12: also for pregnant women with a predominantly plant-based diet
Elke Dag Mama contains a generous 50 mcg dose of vitamin B12 in the biologically active forms of methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. This makes Elke Dag Mama also suitable for pregnant women who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. We deliberately avoided the cheaper, synthetic cyanocobalamin, as this form of B12 does not occur naturally in food or the human body.
Extra high dose of choline (VitaCholine®)
Choline has been a standard ingredient in multivitamins for years, but usually in low doses (10–30 mg). This was primarily due to limited knowledge of its physiological role and the required intake. Choline is especially important during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Therefore, the formula contains a full 150 mg of VitaCholine® per tablet, a high-quality and well-researched form of choline.
Vitamin C, iron and iodine: even more important during pregnancy
Women generally need more iron than men. During pregnancy, women need even more iron to support cell and tissue production. Elke Dag Mama therefore contains a generous daily dose of 16 mg of iron from stomach-friendly iron bisglycinate (Ferrochel®). This is one of the highly absorbable amino acid chelates from Albion® Minerals.
Optimal vitamin D dosage, from plant sources
Elke Dag Mama contains a higher dose of vitamin D than other Elke Dag multivitamins due to the particular importance of optimal micronutrient status during this special life stage. Elke Dag Mama also uses plant-based vitamin D3 (Vitamin D3V®). This is derived from algae, not sheep's wool fat (as is the case with many vitamin D3 products).
Vitamin K1 and K2: Related but Not Interchangeable
Current dietary guidelines for vitamin K are based on the amount needed for normal blood clotting. These guidelines do not address optimal vitamin K intake for other vitamin K-dependent bodily processes. Furthermore, these guidelines do not distinguish between vitamin K1 and vitamin K2, despite the increasing scientific awareness of this issue.
Unlike the other Elke Dag multis, Elke Dag Mama contains a higher percentage of vitamin K1 than vitamin K2.
K2VITAL™ DELTA: vitamin K2 with optimal stability
Vitamin K2 appears to be a very sensitive substance. Especially when combined with calcium and/or magnesium, the vitamin content in a tablet or capsule decreases rapidly. Using vitamin K2 in a product with high doses of calcium and/or magnesium is technically challenging. Therefore, Vitals uses a K2 ingredient branded K2VITAL™ DELTA, which is stable even in a formula containing high levels of these minerals, such as in the Elke Dag multivitamins.
K2VITAL™ DELTA is manufactured using a patented micro-encapsulation process, which protects the fat-soluble K2 particles with two layers of fiber to prevent interaction with other ingredients. Vitals commissioned independent laboratory testing of K2VITAL™ DELTA's stability, and it performed best in tests compared to other vitamin K2 brands.
Natural calcium and magnesium from the sea
The Every Day multivitamins use Aquamin® Magnesium from the Irish Sea and Aquamin® Calcium from red algae (Lithothamnion sp.). These algae absorb and store minerals and trace elements from seawater. Living red algae have a beautiful pinkish-red color, but when they die, calcification occurs, turning them white or light gray. These calcified algae are harvested from the waters off the coast of Iceland.
The percentage of calcium (32%) and magnesium (35%) in Aquamin® is relatively high compared to other calcium and magnesium compounds. This makes it possible to achieve meaningful doses of calcium and magnesium in a tablet or capsule packed with active ingredients (like a multivitamin).
Lutein
Lutein is a naturally occurring carotenoid.
The body cannot produce lutein itself; it must be obtained from food. It is found in green leafy vegetables, and red, yellow, and orange fruits and vegetables.
