The ease of dosing of Vegan Vitamin D3 drops makes them suitable for all family members. For example, you can easily measure the recommended dose of 2 drops for your children onto a spoon with the pipette and administer them. If your vitamin D levels are sufficient, we recommend a dose of 5 drops for adults. Low vitamin D levels are common in seniors, workers who rarely spend time outdoors, or people with darker skin tones. For this group, 10 drops is the recommended dose.
Vitamin D is actually a hormone that our bodies produce naturally. Our skin produces the sunshine vitamin by absorbing the sun's UV rays and synthesizing vitamin D. Unfortunately, due to the climate in the Benelux region, this only occurs during the warm summer and spring months. It's also difficult to replenish the imbalance with vitamin D-rich foods alone.
Vegan by lichen, 100% plant-based
Lanolin is the primary raw material for vitamin D production. This process is often achieved by exposing sheep's wool (lanolin) to UV light. Due to the use of animal wool, vitamin D derived from lanolin is not considered vegan.
That's why Vitakruid developed Vegan Vitamin D3 drops. This product is made from lichen and is therefore 100 percent plant-based. This ensures good vitamin D3 absorption, but it's 100 percent plant-based!
The best form of vitamin D is D3
We long thought that vitamin D2 (ergocalciterol) and D3 (cholecalciferol) were similar forms. However, this is not the case. Vitamin D2 is produced from mushrooms and is therefore plant-based. Unfortunately, vitamin D2 is 66 percent less effective than vitamin D3. That's why Vitakruid chooses vitamin D3 from lichen. Lichens produce vitamin D in a similar way to humans, based on UV radiation (sunlight). The vitamin D3 from lichen is even identical to the vitamin D our bodies produce, making it directly available to our system.
