Due to the easy dosing of the Vitamin D3 drops Vegan, it is suitable for all family members. For example, you can easily measure and administer the recommended dosage of 2 drops for your children on a spoon with the pipette. If your vitamin D levels are sufficient, we recommend a dosage of 5 drops for adults. Low vitamin D levels are common in seniors, workers who spend little time outdoors, or people with a darker skin tone. For this target group, 10 drops is the recommended dosage.
Vitamin D is actually a hormone that our body produces itself. Our skin produces the sun vitamin by absorbing UV radiation from the sun and producing vitamin D. Unfortunately, due to the climate in the Benelux, this only happens during the warm summer and spring months. It is also difficult to supplement the skewed balance with vitamin D-rich foods alone.
Vegan from lichen, 100% plant-based
Wool fat is the main raw material for the production of vitamin D. The development often takes place by exposing the fat from sheep's wool (lanolin) to UV light. Due to the use of animal wool, we do not consider vitamin D formed from wool fat to be vegan.
That is why Vitakruid has developed Vitamin D3 drops Vegan. This product is formed from lichen and is therefore 100 percent plant-based. This takes into account a good absorption of vitamin D3, but 100 percent plant-based!
The best vitamin D form is D3
For a long time, we thought that vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and D3 (cholecalciferol) were similar forms. However, this is not the case. Vitamin D2 is formed from mushrooms and is therefore plant-based. Unfortunately, vitamin D2 is 66 percent less effective than vitamin D3. That is why Vitakruid chooses vitamin D3 from lichen. Lichen produces vitamin D in a similar way to humans, based on UV radiation (sunlight). The vitamin D3 from lichen is even exactly the same as the vitamin D that our body produces. This means it is directly available to our system.
