Symflora® Femme differs from the other products in our Symflora® line. It does not contain a bacterial species, but a yeast. In addition, Symflora® Femme does not contain ProbioAct® technology. But there's a good reason for this!
Yeasts have a tough cell wall that protects them against the acidic environment of the stomach. This keeps the yeasts intact and they arrive alive at their destination. Probiotic bacteria such as Lactobacilli, on the other hand, are less resistant to stomach acid.
No ProbioAct® needed
ProbioAct® is a technology that guarantees the stability, survival and metabolic activity of probiotic bacteria. This technology is not necessary for yeasts, because they are naturally resistant to stomach acid.
Suitable for vegans
Probiotics are often grown on dairy products, making them unsuitable for a vegan lifestyle. However, Saccharomyces cerevisiae is grown on a plant-based culture medium, such as sugar beets or sugar cane. Symflora® Femme is therefore also suitable for vegans!
