Vitakruid MCT Oil C8 100% pure & sustainable coconut oil
MCTs (Medium Chain Triglycerides) are medium-chain fatty acids. Unlike longer chains, these fatty acids are absorbed at the beginning of the intestinal tract. This means the liver has to exert minimal effort to convert the fatty acids. Furthermore, our body hardly stores MCT as fat.
MCT type C8 is the best form of MCT
There are four types of MCT:
- C6 (caproic acid): fastest absorbed into the body and rarest form in MCT oil.
- C8 (caprylic acid): most efficient fatty acid after C6.
- C10 (capric acid): slightly slower absorption than C8, but has a similar effect in the body.
- C12 (lauric acid): longer conversion process due to a longer fatty acid chain and therefore less suitable.
C8
We consider C8 to be the most efficient fatty acid, partly due to its length. The body absorbs C10 slightly less quickly compared to C8. While saturated fatty acids previously had a primarily negative connotation, MCT oil falls under healthy saturated fatty acids.
Extracted from non-GMO and sustainable coconuts
Vitakruid's MCT oil is extracted from non-GMO coconuts and sourced from Southeast Asia and South America. The oil is obtained through cold pressing, meaning it does not need to be hydrogenated. Hydrogenation is a chemical process that changes the consistency of fat, hardening oil or soft fat. This can lead to the formation of trans fats. Vitakruid's MCT oil is therefore 100% trans fat-free!
Furthermore, this oil is viewed less critically because it undergoes a deodorization process. This makes deodorized oil cheaper because only the very best coconuts are selected for non-deodorized oil. Vitakruid's MCT oil is not deodorized, preserving all its beneficial properties.
Palm oil-free
MCT fatty acids are mainly found in coconut oil and palm oil. While MCTs can be found in both forms, there are differences. Palm oil has been embraced by the food industry as a cheap ingredient for various processed products. Cheaper MCT oils sometimes also contain a mixture of these two types of oil. Vitakruid's MCT oil is based exclusively on coconut oil.
Sustainable production process Witarix® MCT oil
Sustainability is a top priority in product development. Vitakruid's MCT oil is 100% from sustainable coconut oil (Witarix®). The vegan product is Ecocert-approved, in addition to kosher and Halal certification:
- Environmentally friendly production and processing methods that consider human health
- Responsible use of natural resources
- Respect for biodiversity
- Recyclable packaging
- Ingredients are of natural origin
- No use of genetic modification
MCT oil safe in glass
The MCT oil is packaged in glass immediately after the first cold pressing, the only packaging material considered safe by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). This applies mainly to products (such as oil) that can react with their packaging. Plastic often contains plasticizers such as phthalates that make the plastic flexible and pliable. Depending on the type of plastic, certain plasticizers can leach in small amounts.
Less oxidation through glass
The glass packaging also protects the oil from external influences that cause oxidation. This is why oil is often packaged in a slightly darker (glass) bottle, so that the oil is exposed to as little light and oxygen as possible.
MCT oil or powder?
MCT is available in oil or powder form. Most research on the positive effects of MCT oil has been conducted with MCT oil. The most important thing is the quality of the product you choose. Low-quality MCT powders often contain added fillers and therefore have a reduced effect. Compared to MCT powder, MCT oil is the purest.
What can I use MCT Oil for?
You can use MCT oil in various ways. For example, you can add it to a (bulletproof) coffee, smoothie, or mix it into your oatmeal in the morning. Heat MCT oil to a maximum of 175 degrees, so this product is less suitable for baking.
