Soluble vs. Insoluble Fiber
Guar bean fiber is a soluble fiber, a type of fiber that dissolves in water and forms a gel-like substance. Along with insoluble fiber, it's a valuable component of a fiber-rich, varied diet. Examples of soluble fiber include guar bean fiber and psyllium, while insoluble fiber is found in wheat bran and whole grains, among other sources.
Guar bean: a natural source of fiber
The guar plant (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) grows naturally in dry regions of India and requires remarkably little to thrive. This resilience makes it a sustainable crop choice. The beans and leaves of this plant have been part of the Indian diet for thousands of years.
Galactomannan as the main fiber structure
The dietary fiber in guar beans consists largely of galactomannan. This is a carbohydrate structure composed of long chains of sugar molecules: mannose (the main chain) and galactose (the side branches). Galactomannan naturally consists of long chains that, when combined with water, form a thick, viscous mass.
Sunfiber®: soluble fiber with the ideal chain length
Sunfiber® is made from galactomannan and undergoes a carefully controlled process of partial hydrolysis. A natural enzyme shortens the long fiber chains into smaller structures of optimal length. This results in a fiber that is highly soluble in water. Sunfiber® is now the most researched water-soluble fiber in the world.
Neutral taste, light texture and excellent solubility
The carefully tuned chain length of Sunfiber® ensures a unique combination of properties:
- Exceptionally good solubility in both cold and warm liquids
- Neutral taste and texture, without aftertaste or odor
- Low viscosity, so no thick or syrupy structure
While regular guar gum can form a thick, sticky texture, Sunfiber® remains light and flexible. Even at higher doses, it maintains its clear, fluid character. Thanks to its neutral taste and odor, it mixes easily with water, shakes, yogurt, or other foods without affecting the flavor or texture.
Very well tolerated and low-FODMAP
Thanks in part to its excellent solubility and low dosage threshold, Sunfiber® is certified low-FODMAP. This means it fits into a low-FODMAP diet, making it suitable for people who consciously want to avoid certain fermentable carbohydrates.
Sustainably grown based on rich traditions
Sunfiber®'s journey begins in the dry agricultural lands of northwest India, in the state of Rajasthan. In villages like Mokheri, some 50,000 farming families have been cultivating guar for generations, a humble yet vigorous legume that thrives with minimal water.
After the monsoon, farmers sow their crops and then wait a hundred days for the pods to ripen. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, and the plants are sun-dried in the fields. This artisanal method preserves the quality of the plant and its fibers, allowing nature to do the work.
We work exclusively with non-genetically modified plant varieties, respecting soil health, biodiversity, and local communities. Furthermore, long-term partnerships contribute to a stable income and better future prospects for farming families in the region.
Natural fiber, advanced processing for optimal quality
After harvesting, a sophisticated production process begins. In a specially developed facility, the guar gum is dissolved in purified water from a reverse osmosis system. Then, carefully measured enzymes are added for gentle enzymatic hydrolysis.
For thirteen hours, the fiber chains are naturally shortened to their optimal length. The mixture is then sterilized using a process similar to pasteurization and spray-dried into a fine, white powder.
Clean, controlled and fully traceable
After drying, the product undergoes a final quality control. A powerful magnetic filter removes any metal particles, after which Sunfiber® is packaged under pharmaceutically controlled conditions. Each batch is assigned a unique code, ensuring complete traceability from raw material to final packaging.
Sunfiber® not only offers reliable and pure fiber, but also the assurance of a product made with care and integrity. A perfect balance between craftsmanship and science.
Compound
Ingredients
Guar bean fibers (Sunfiber® AG, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba).
Usage
Take 1 to 2 scoops per day. Mix well with 200 ml of water, hot drinks (coffee or tea), and food such as oatmeal or yogurt. Let the mixture sit for a few moments to allow the fiber to fully dissolve. Best taken with a meal. Follow the recommended dosage. Measuring spoon included.
Storage instructions
