Testjezelf.nu Vitamin D check
- Accurate
- Fast results
- Easy to use
- Semi-quantitative determination
What is this medicine used for?
Vitamin D Check® is a self-test that easily determines vitamin D levels using a small drop of blood. This self-test is a semi-quantitative test. Unlike a qualitative test (Yes/No), this test provides a good indication. Using the separately included color chart, it can be determined whether the vitamin D level is moderate, insufficient, sufficient, or excessive.
Directions for use
Before use, read the instructions and compare the color of the test line on the test with the included color chart. This should be done carefully; the degree of discoloration (pink) indicates whether your blood vitamin D level is deficient, insufficient, or sufficient. The pink test line (T) can take on the following colors:
- Dark (deficient result, “Deficient” on the “Color Card”)
- Lighter than the top line on the “Color Card” (result inadequate or moderate)
- Very faint line (result sufficient (“Sufficient” on the “Color Card”)
- No line at the T (result surplus/too much)
- See also [Reading the Results] in the manual.
If your results are abnormal (insufficient or insufficient 25-75 mmol/L), you may consider vitamin D supplements. If you receive a clearly deficient result (0-25 mmol/L), you should contact your doctor to discuss the results. They can then decide with you on further analysis or testing. In rare cases, a vitamin D excess can also occur. This is called vitamin D toxicity (possibly caused by hypercalcemia, an excessively high calcium level in the blood). If you test for a vitamin D excess and you experience symptoms that could indicate a calcium excess, you should contact your doctor immediately.
