When the drug is present in the urine, it will bind to this antibody, thus preventing the antibody from binding to the test membrane. The color of the test line will gradually lighten with increasing drug concentration until it disappears completely. (Positive test result) The control line should always be visible; the presence or absence of the drug in the urine has no effect. The control line serves to verify that the test is functioning correctly.
