Shush Sleep and swim earplugs
Shush Sleep/Swim Earplugs are perfect for both sleeping and swimming. These versatile 2-in-1 earplugs have no noise filter and completely seal your ear canal. This provides maximum attenuation for undisturbed sleep. They also keep water out of your ear, preventing infections caused by dirt, chemicals, bacteria, and other harmful substances in the water.
SUSTAINABLE AND EFFECTIVE
The earplugs are made of soft synthetic rubber. This material has a higher density, which provides greater noise attenuation than regular silicone earplugs. The quality of this material is much more durable; they are reusable four times longer than traditional silicone earplugs. The synthetic rubber is also hypoallergenic. Unlike silicone earplugs, these earplugs prevent irritation to the skin in the ear canal. Because there is no filter in the earplugs, the rubber is more flexible and softer, providing optimal comfort and a perfect fit for sensitive ears.
MAXIMUM CUSHIONING FOR SLEEPING
Earplugs offer maximum attenuation against disruptive noise, allowing you to sleep undisturbed. Sound is perceived in two ways: air conduction (through your ear canal, through your eardrum) and bone conduction (through your skin, through your skull). Earplugs only attenuate the sound that enters through your ear canal. Bone conduction sound cannot be attenuated with earplugs. This is a safety feature, as sounds like your alarm clock or a fire alarm remain audible.
WHAT IS DISTURBING NOISE?
Research has shown that noise above 50 decibels is considered disruptive. To sleep well, you don't want to hear noises above 45 decibels. Snoring sounds range in intensity from 40 to over 75 decibels. Shush Sleep/Swim earplugs attenuate approximately 30 decibels. Snoring sounds up to 75 decibels can therefore be effectively attenuated with these earplugs, down to a level below 50 decibels. This allows you to sleep soundly, and the noise won't keep you awake.
PROTECTION AGAINST WATER IN THE EAR
Shush Sleep/Swim Earplugs completely seal your ear canal to keep water out. Swimming water can contain chlorine, dirt, bacteria, and other harmful substances that can cause infections, resulting in symptoms such as itching, earache, discharge, and/or temporary hearing loss. By wearing earplugs while swimming or during other water sports, you prevent contaminated water from entering your ears.
If you have eardrum tubes, a perforated eardrum, or a damaged eardrum, use these swimming earplugs when swimming, taking a bath, or showering. This prevents fluid from entering your inner ear. In a swimming pool, noise levels can reach harmful levels. Because of screaming children and the reverberant acoustics, using these earplugs is also a wise choice outside of the water.
One size fits most
Shush Sleep/Swim Earplugs have a universal fit and are designed with a three-layered mushroom shape (lamellae) from largest to smallest (sizes: S, M, L). If you have a narrow ear canal, inserting the earplugs up to the first layer is sufficient. This will create a good seal and effectively attenuate sound.
If you have a wide ear canal, the earplugs will fit completely in your ear, up to the third layer. If you have a wide ear canal, be careful when inserting the earplugs for the first time. Be careful not to push them too far or too deep into your ear canal. The earplugs may then be difficult to remove, or you may even need to use tweezers.
Every ear canal is different, and ears have different shapes and sizes. Shush Earplugs fit 99.9% of all ears. There are exceptions, however, where ear canals are too small, too wide, or simply the wrong shape to fit a universal fit. As a result, the earplugs may not seal properly in your ear canal. Therefore, carefully test the earplugs before swimming. This ensures a good seal and prevents water from entering your ear.
SUSTAINABLE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
With daily use, the earplugs will last for years. Shush earplugs are made of recyclable, hypoallergenic, and silicone-free synthetic rubber (TPE) and contain no toxic or hazardous substances. This material has an exceptionally long lifespan (Shush earplugs can be reused 365 times) and is hypoallergenic, preventing skin irritation. The storage container is made of high-quality aluminum with a rubber ring. The packaging is made of FSC-certified cardboard, and the holder is made of fully biodegradable bagasse. It is the first plastic-free packaging for hearing protection.
Entirely developed and manufactured in the Netherlands.
What is this medicine used for?
Earplugs to block out hearing while sleeping or swimming.
Directions for use
Before use, check that the Shush earplugs are clean. Shush earplugs come in one universal size, and there is no difference between left and right earplugs.
Insert:
1. Grasp the earplugs by the stem. Use the hand on the same side of the ear as the one you want to insert the earplug into.
2. Use your other hand to gently pull the top of your ear up at a slight angle to better open your ear canal.
3. Gently slide the earplugs into the ear canal in an upward motion.
4. Release the auricle and, if necessary, push the earplug a little further until it forms a comfortable seal.
To take out:
Twist the earplug or move your earcup back. This will loosen the earplug slightly and allow air to circulate. You can then easily remove the earplug from your ear.
Shush earplugs are easy to clean with soap and water. With daily use, they will last for years. To maintain good ear canal hygiene, it's important to clean the earplugs after use. Store your earplugs clean and dry in the included aluminum storage case. Use this case as a keychain so you always have your earplugs within easy reach.
Read the package leaflet before use.
Contraindications
Do not use if you have an ear infection.
Ingredients
Recyclable, hypoallergenic and silicone-free synthetic rubber (TPE)
Warnings
• Shush Earplugs only provide optimal protection when inserted correctly and kept clean. Therefore, make sure you follow the steps in these instructions carefully.
• Do not use in an inflamed ear.
• Always remove the earplugs from your ears slowly after use. A vacuum can form; pulling the earplugs out too hard or too quickly can damage the eardrum. Twist the earplug or move your ear back to loosen the plug slightly and allow air to escape before removing it.
• Do not swallow. Not for internal use, except in the ear canal.
• Keep out of reach of children due to the risk of choking/suffocation.
Contact with certain chemicals can cause the earplugs to deteriorate more quickly. Therefore, always store them clean and dry – in the included aluminum storage container – to prevent dirt from damaging the earplugs.
• Failure to follow the instructions correctly may negatively impact the protective effect. In this case, Shush assumes no responsibility for any consequences.
Storage advice
Comes with an aluminum storage tube.
Keep your earplugs clean and dry for good ear hygiene.
Other information
• Always check that the earplugs are properly inserted into the ear canal before entering the water. If the ear canal doesn't seal properly, the waterproofing can decrease and the risk of ear infections can increase.
• Use the Shush Sleep/Swim Earplugs only for swimming at surface level. The earplugs are suitable for use up to two meters underwater. These earplugs are not suitable for scuba diving or other activities involving great depths.
• Shush Sleep/Swim Earplugs offer protection against water in the ear canal, but cannot guarantee complete protection against ear infections. Consult a doctor if you have existing ear problems or if irritation or pain occurs after use.
• You perceive sound in two ways: through the air (through your ear canal, through your eardrum) and via bone conduction (through your skin, conduction through your skull). Shush Sleep / Swim Earplugs close off your ear canal, thus ensuring maximum attenuation of sound through air conduction. The earplugs block your ear canal, muffling this sound. Sound that enters via bone conduction cannot be muffled. And that's a good thing. Sounds like your alarm clock or fire alarm signals remain audible this way.
The loudest snoring sound ever recorded is 95 decibels. Fortunately, such noise levels are very rare, because at these levels, earplugs for sleeping are insufficient. The muffled sound is still above 50 decibels and is therefore still perceived as disturbing.
Earplugs can't muffle your own snoring, because that noise comes from within you. If you're having trouble sleeping because of your own snoring, earplugs usually won't help. Ask an ENT doctor about options for reducing your snoring.
• Individual experience with noise reduction and comfort may vary. The earplugs fit most ears, but not every ear canal is suitable for universal earplugs. Stop using the earplugs if you experience any pain, discomfort, or irritation, and consult a doctor if necessary.
Earplugs can improve sleep quality by reducing ambient noise, but they are not intended as a medical device for sleep disorders. Consult a specialist for severe sleep problems.
