The Halit salt rock is millions of years old and contains NaCl, Mg, and Calcium, among other minerals. Because the salt mines in Praid are visited by more than 250,000 people annually, a Hungarian professor designed a unique product at the beginning of this century to deliver these pure salt crystals directly to the patient. That product became the SaltPipe™ Classic salt inhaler and, more recently, the Mini SaltPipe.
SaltPipe™ products have been available in the Netherlands since 2009. Anyone with the aforementioned breathing problems can now access portable salt therapy anytime, anywhere, with these SaltPipes™. The inhaler resembles a small pipe and, between two porcelain filters, contains enough Halit salt and minerals for 5 years of use (the porcelain version). The Mini SaltPipe contains less Halit salt, is made of plastic, and can be used for 3-6 months. The Mini SaltPipe is intended more for trying out the product before purchasing the porcelain version, as it is much more economical to use, at 2 cents per day.
