Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is a mushroom that has been used in Asia for over 2,000 years for its positive health effects. Reishi is one of the best-known and most widely used medicinal mushrooms. Ganoderma Lucidum is its Latin name and means 'shiny skin.' In China, this mushroom is also called "the Herb of Spiritual Potency." Reishi grows as a parasite on deciduous trees, but can also grow on dead tree trunks. The color of Reishi is red and its sheen makes it look as if there is a layer of varnish over it.
