Usage
Shoyu and tamari are flavor enhancers, the healthy, liquid counterparts of bouillon cubes. They are equally at home in Western and Eastern cuisines. Use them not only to season dishes but also to enhance the natural flavors of ingredients, both during cooking and at the table. Shoyu's flavor is characterized by a distinct alcohol note, resulting from the fermentation of the wheat. This is why the product cannot withstand prolonged heating and why it should only be added at the end of the cooking process to preserve its flavor. Shoyu pairs perfectly with pickles, stir-fries, rice, noodles, sushi, sashimi, or steamed vegetables, with mirin (rice wine), wasabi, ginger, or grated daikon radish.
