What is this medicine used for?
Application of cold/hot compress
The HeltiQ Cold/Warm Compress has a dual purpose and is suitable for both cold and warm applications. Read the instructions carefully before using the HeltiQ Cold/Warm Compress.
Cold application to be used for:
Strains, bruises, sprains, contusions, bumps, fever, pain from inflammation, headache, migraine, toothache, insect bites and stings, itching, cracked nipples, engorgement, swelling and sunburn.
Warm application
Joint pain, neck complaints (e.g. stiff neck), abdominal cramps, menstrual pain, back pain, lumbago and muscle pain.
Directions for use
Cold application
The blue compress is applicable for:
swelling, bruises, sprains, contusions, strains, fever, pain with inflammation, bumps, headache, migraine, itching, engorgement, cracked nipples, insect bites and stings, toothache and sunburn.
Place the compress in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
NB!
Before use, place the compress in the enclosed sleeve. Never place the cold compress directly on the skin, as frostbite may occur.
Warm application
The red compress is applicable for:
back pain, lumbago, neck pain (e.g. stiff neck), muscle pain, joint pain, abdominal cramps and menstrual pain.
Heating in water
Boil 1.5 liters of water. Turn off the heat and add 0.5 liters of cold water. Mix the boiled water thoroughly with the cold water.
Spread the gel evenly over the compress and place the compress in the water for 2 minutes.
Slide the compress into the supplied cover or wrap it in a thin cloth.
Assess the temperature of the compress. Let it cool down first if it's too hot. If it's still too cold, place the compress back in the water for another minute.
Apply the compress to the painful area for about 20 minutes. Repeat several times a day if necessary.
Heating in microwave
Set the microwave to defrost mode.
Spread the gel evenly over the compress and heat for 2 minutes. Do not microwave! Turn the microwave off immediately if the compress puffs up in the microwave.
Slide the compress into the supplied cover or wrap it in a thin cloth.
Assess the compress's temperature. Let it cool down first if it's too hot. Reheat the compress in 30-second increments if it's still too cold.
Apply the compress to the painful area for about 20 minutes. Repeat several times a day if needed.
NB!
Never place the heat compress directly on the skin, otherwise burns may occur.
Never heat a compress in a grill or oven
Never heat a folded or pleated compress. This will cause leakage.
Contraindications
People with impaired circulation should consult their doctor before using a cold/hot compress.
