The blanket is made of a non-flammable or very poorly flammable material, sometimes coated with a fire-resistant agent. Because the blanket deprives the fire of oxygen, it extinguishes the fire. Usage
Pull the bus blanket by the handles (hands down)
Hold the fire blanket in front of your body for protection against the flames and slide it completely over the source of the fire.
Turn off the heat source.
Leave the fire blanket until the source of the fire has cooled down
If necessary, call the fire brigade
Extinguishing a clothing fire:
Wrap the victim in the blanket until the flames are extinguished. Call 911 for medical assistance.
