About the plant
The sweet orange is a small, evergreen tree with white, fragrant flowers and glossy leaves. It grows up to 6 meters tall and is native to China. Today, it is cultivated around the Mediterranean and in North America (Florida). It is smaller than the bitter orange (C. aurantium var. amara), from which, among other things, neroli and petitgrain are distilled.
About the oil
Sweet orange is an essential oil obtained by cold pressing the ripe peel of the fruit. The essential oil yield is approximately 0.5%. This means that 200 kg of ripe peels are needed to produce 1 liter of oil. The color of this oil ranges from yellow to orange, depending on the variety and origin. The aroma of sweet orange is very distinctive: lively, fruity-fresh with a sweet undertone. The perfume industry frequently uses orange in fruity perfumes, where the oil is characterized as a top note.

Usage
Evaporate
Orange releases a sweet and fruity scent through evaporation. This oil brings sunshine into your home and creates a cozy atmosphere. This oil is therefore also known as the Sun King. Orange can be used pure in an aroma diffuser, but like all other citrus oils, it's also excellent for blending. For example, try combining orange with lavender, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, ylang ylang, or pine notes.
The combinations below are wonderful in a vaporizer! You can also make your own skin oil or bath oil by mixing 5 drops of essential oil with 20 ml of plant oil or bath oil.
* 3 drops of orange and 2 drops of cedar atlas
* 1 drop frankincense, 1 drop myrrh, 3 drops orange
* 2 drops of ginger and 3 drops of orange
* 2 drops cedarwood, 2 drops orange and 1 drop patchouli
* 2 drops of benzoin and 3 drops of orange
In the ultrasonic vaporizer: the nose determines the number of drops, usually between 5 and 20 drops dripping onto the water in the vaporizer.
In the Aroma Inhaler: Put 20 drops on the cotton swab.
On the fragrance stone: Use 6 to 10 drops for use of the stone on the toilet, wardrobe or on the bedside table.
Steam: maximum 1 - 5 drops of essential oil
On the skin
In skincare, sweet orange can be used for oily skin and mature skin. It supports the skin's regenerative capacity. It's also good for red or chapped skin.
Essential oils are highly concentrated substances, so you should never use them pure on your skin. For safe use, mix an essential oil with a plant-based oil. For a relaxing massage oil, use 10-15 drops of essential oil per 100ml of base oil. You can use Aromassage Basic, for example, or choose a plant-based oil of your choice.
In the bath
One of the most pleasant uses of oils is in a bath. When you drop essential oil into the water, you'll see it float on top. The oil and water don't mix. If the oil floats on the water, your skin comes into direct contact with it, which can cause skin irritation. Therefore, it's important to use diluted oil in bathwater. For this, you need an emulsifier, which can bind the oil and water together. A neutral bath foam or oil, for example, is a good emulsifier. To safely use essential oils in the bath, use a maximum of 10 drops of essential oil in 10 ml of bath oil or hydrophilic oil for a full bath. Orange is often used as a sunny oil in the winter, especially after long, cold days. With orange, you can truly create a moment for yourself to recharge and take on new challenges.
